TUC Worker Gains Nomination in Gospel Choice Music Awards

A member or the Trades Union Congress (Ghana ), Daniel Agyin, popularly known as Goldmann, who works directly with the Union of Informal Workers' Association as a youth representative, has gained nominations into the 26th annual Gospel Choice Awards in the International Artist of the year and the International Songwriter of the Year categories.

Founded by Jeffery Holmes, the Gospel Choice Music Awards (GCMA), formerly the Gospel Choice Awards, seeks to celebrate the heritage of Gospel Music and also pay tribute to some of today’s most influential and renowned artists. The GCMA will celebrate its 26th anniversary with the annual awards show on June 26 -27, 2020 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Since its inception in the fall of 1994, the annual awards ceremony has been described as one of the most ,star-spangled, powerful and uplifting shows in Atlanta, Georgia, focusing on God, Love, Family and Music. The weekend event would be full of amazing music, dance, mime, and award recognition. It also features an array of performers and honorees nominated and voted for by the general public.

Goldmann, who also doubles as the Deputy Gospel Music Director of the Musician Union of Ghana (MUSIGHA) is a famous music artist in Ghana writing and recording several songs including Nyame be ye ( God will do it), which earned him the two nominations in the international award and other national awards as well.

Other artists nominated for the international awards are Anointed Michael, Anointed Vessel, Antwan Jordan, Brianarae, Diana Nicole among others.

The GCMA will present fan-voted awards in different categories notably Artists, Ministers of Music, Directors, Praise & Worship Teams, and many others.

Coronavirus: Government of Ghana to spend GHS 1 Billion on electricity reliefs

The government will spend a little over GHS 1 billion over the next three months on relief for electricity consumers amid the economic slowdown from the novel coronavirus pandemic. About 87 percent of the Ghanaian population on 4.8 million metres who have access to the national grid are in line to benefit from these reliefs, according to the Energy Minister, Peter Amewu. The government is fully absorbing electricity bills for lifeline consumers; persons who consume 0 to 50 kilowatt-hours per month. The other categories of consumers will enjoy a 50 percent discount within the same period. Addressing a press conference on Thursday morning, Mr. Amewu gave a breakdown of the reliefs with the Electricity of Ghana (ECG) accounting for most of the beneficiaries.
