The General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), Ps. Dr. Mensa Otabil has revealed that he had the calling of God at age fourteen (14).
Speaking during the climax of the ICGC 36th anniversary celebration in a video footage circulated to all ICGC Branches worldwide, the renowned Teacher and author of countless books revealed that the Lord called him into ministry when he was a teenager.
" I had the calling of God on my life when I was around 14 years. It wasn't any dramatic thing; nobody prophesied to me, I didn't see any dream or vision. I just had a sense within my heart that God was going to use me to do his work," he revealed, adding that he didn't " tell anybody, brag about it or jump about it" but rather " kept it in the heart and pondered over it" not knowing "it would amount to much."
Encouraging the young ones of the ICGC fraternity, Dr. Otabil advised them to see themselves as very important to God and not insignificant. He encouraged the youth to make bold decisions to be excellent in all they do and to maximise their potentials. He cited various young men in the Bible including David, Daniel and Samuel that God used tremendously.
He advised the young ones to live their lives on purpose and to also learn to sacrifice for their future, adding that "the sacrifices you make in your teenage years would be your reward in your old age. He also encouraged them to keep their bodies pure and righteous.
Dr. Otabil revealed,also, that he established the ICGC when he was twenty four years old and the Central University when he was in his thirties. He pleaded with the youth to seek God in all they do and to allow God clarify anything that seem confusing to them .
Background
ICGC was established on 26th February, 1984 in a small classroom in Kanda, a surburb of Accra in Ghana with an initial membership of twenty. Over the years the church has grown in to membership numbering millions and has branches in all the continents of the world.
The ICGC church celebrated their 36th anniversary on 1st March, 2020 across the globe in all their branches. The 36th year of the establishment actually fell on 26th February, 2020 but the church climaxed the celebration on 1st March to enable all members partake since a Sunday would gather all members at their churches hence a joyful celebration.
Dr. Otabil delivered an Anniversary Message titled, 'A more Excellent Sacrifice' where he adviced members to offer excellent sacrifices especially to the things of God, adding that when they do that it would cause God to favor them, give them a testimony and make their lives impactful.
