ABGMA Holds Annual 6th Awards Ceremony

The Antigua Barbuda Gospel Music and Media Awards (ABGMA) has appreciated Gospel Musicians and Media Personnel from the Carribean and other countries.



The Virtual Awards Ceremony was broadcasted live on Saturday October 24th 2020 on So Arise Tv. The Official MC was Multi-Award Winning Radio Host, "Tony D" of the New Artist Profile Radio Show out of Augusta Georgia, USA. Some of the electrifying performances came from Jamaican Artists Nadine Valentine, Tiffany Levy, Flavia Beswick, Discyple and Nicholas Gong. In addition, UK based Zimbabwean, Obert Mazivisa gave a soul stirring rendition of two of his hits. D'Furnace (Trinidad), Sarid DVN (St. Kitts) and Neesha Woodz of Barbados also delivered great performances. Ehi Sam of Nigeria gave us a wonderful rendition of his single "Jehovah"


Multi-ABGMA Winners Lisa Harris, Naycha K.I.D, Peetron Thomas and the Power Band stormed the event with their outstanding performances of their hits, ("Fallen Soldiers", "Faithful" and "Paradise" respectively) alongside upcoming Singer/Songwriter Faith Richards who gave a powerful rendition of her song, "I Know He Loves Me".

Award Winners

Amongst those awarded are Sterling Roberts from Trinidad who won four awards (Soca, Dancehall, Collaboration, and Songwriter of the Year Male ), Flavia Beswick and Tiffany Levy from Jamaica ( Best Reggae and Songwriter of the Year Female respectively), Sarid DVN from St. Kitts (Best Music Video) , and Soné from Guyana (International Psalmist of the Year Male).

The other winners are Neesha Woodz, Sherry Ann Maughan, and Damion Hallet from the Barbados (Urban R&B/Pop, Song of the Year and Best Music Video Director respectively). 

Now a 7 X ABGMA Winner, Antiguan Gospel Recording Artist Lisa Harris took home the Award for Most Airplay for her single, "I'm Alive", also now a 5 X ABGMA Winner, Peetron Thomas also of Antigua won National Song of the Year for his song, "Paradise".

Savana Clarke from God First Radio in Antigua was adjudged the Best Journalist in News & Current Affairs alongside Antigua Newsroom, Observer Newsco winning Best Online News Media and Best News Media respectively.

The Founder/Chairman of the event, Apostle-Prophet Stanshaw Cornelius, appreciated all the Artists , Institutions and other individuals who assisted in making the show a reality, congratulating all Award winners subsequently.

The Head Pastor of the ICGC Faith and Miracle Temple ,  Rev. Samuel Nyarko , has advised people  not to trust  their fellow   human beings completely in order to avoid   disappointments.   Rev. Total Woman Network distributes sanitary towels to three basic schools in Accra

 As part of activities to mark the International Menstrual Hygiene Day Celebration, the Total Woman Network visited three schools in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana to distribute sanitary towels to the ladies. The schools were found in the Ledzokuku Constituency and the Anyaa Sowutuom Constituency. Expressing their appreciation, one teacher said they have been "blessed with the love that the Total Woman Network has shown to the school", adding that he wished "the entire nation would take the issues of menstrual health as a dire nature and emulate such benevolence from the Network." One student also expressed gratitude to the Total Woman Network saying, " I thank the Total Woman Network for thinking of us the females and coming to our aid. Honestly , I've been blessed. Salaries for first and second ladies unacceptable - TUC

The government of Ghana, through it's Parliament,has approved for the first and second ladies of the nation to be given salaries . The salaries according to sources are to be pegged at that of Cabinet Ministers. The Trades Union Congress, has however, expressed their disapproval in supporting this act.  Speaking to PEX NEWS, the Deputy General Secretary for the Public Services Workers' Union (PSWU), John Sampah , said the TUC and for that matter, the PSWU inclusive, would never support this act.  Mr. Sampah said salaries are paid to workers who are employed and assigned specific roles and responsibilities but in this stance, the first and second ladies are neither employed nor assigned any roles and responsibilities.
