As part of activities to mark the International Menstrual Hygiene Day Celebration, the Total Woman Network visited three schools in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana to distribute sanitary towels to the ladies.
The schools were found in the Ledzokuku Constituency and the Anyaa Sowutuom Constituency.
Expressing their appreciation, one teacher said they have been "blessed with the love that the Total Woman Network has shown to the school", adding that he wished "the entire nation would take the issues of menstrual health as a dire nature and emulate such benevolence from the Network."
One student also expressed gratitude to the Total Woman Network saying, " I thank the Total Woman Network for thinking of us the females and coming to our aid. Honestly , I've been blessed. The teachings they gave us on Menstrual Health is phenomenal and I am going to teach my friends at home . For the sanitary towels they have given us I'm really going use it. God bless you Total Woman Network."
Speaking to PEX NEWS, the President of Total Woman Network, Miss Edna Quartey, said, "the network has just started", adding that though this is not the first time they have embarked on such a journey, she is of the opinion that "the best is still yet to come". She said the group is "going to all the towns and villages across the nation to educate the girl-child on Menstrual Health."
She also admitted that the group " cannot do this alone. We need more hands on board. Our finances are not enough and if we are to go across the entire nation we would need more financial support , among others. We are calling on the government, companies and other NGO's to come to our aid and help save the girl-child.'
